About Lobke

Lobke van Aar likes to combine illustration, color and typygraphy in playful artworks that have a very whimsical and unique style. She gets inspired by whispers from the past and little things in daily life and she always looks for the human element in her topics.

Lobke received her bachelor of design in illustration at the AKV|St.Joost Academy in 2008 and has been working as a freelance illustrator since then, creating works for cliets such as Flow Magazine and Sesame Street.

Hello! I would love to win the I Will Save You art piece! My family is Russia, and our relationship is complicated. As I explore my history and get to know my ancestors I’ve become more and more interested in multigenerational healing, and this piece of art makes me think of that:)

I found your page very recently (about a week ago) and I’m already in love with it. I check your posts almost everyday, especially because I’ve been thinking lately about becoming an illustrator in the future and I love getting inspired by the many illustrators you introduce to me through your posts. Drawing and painting is something that I’m very passionate about since I was very little and I’d love to be able to make a living out of what I like to do. ik ben een zelf ook een moeder en voel me zeer aangesproken tot het plaatje, super mooi is ie. En natuurlijk is het weer typisch Nederlands en herkenbaar dat ik met m’n 3 kinderen door de regen moet. Ik zou m graag winnen.

I love her work! I’m following Lobke For a very long time now (she’s from my birthplace!) and I have so much respect for her. She’s a great artist with a great sense of shapes and colors, and a unique way to tell stories. This illustration would get an honour-place in our home!

I have a 12 week old little baby girl and this print perfectly captures the feelings I have for her- the love in the warm colours, even though it is raining, the need to protect – protecting the baby from the rain, the desire to hold her all the time – the beautiful way the mother is holding the baby.

This would look beautiful in Baby Siún’a nursery and would remind me of a special time.
