I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I LOVE animated illustrations! Small movements can bring so much life and character to a drawing. And lucky for us, there’s a whole bunch of lovely makers out there who occsionaly include little movement to their work. Here are 20 of my favorites:

Try staring at one of Erika Mora’s beautiful animations for a while. I guarantee that the whimsical atmosphere, colorful details and little movements will draw you to a straight into daydream of mysterious far away places. It’s what happened to me when I spotted her work on Ello the other day. I ended up browsing her page for a good while, getting lost in every single image that caught my eye. Magic!
Only two weeks passed since I posted about Charlotte Smith’s gorgeous paper foods. But as it turns out, she creates GIF animations as well. After an exhausting day like today these groovy dances ranging from scary backflips to Beyonce-style disco moves are EXACTLY what I need to be looking at right now.
These animated drawings by Thoka Maer show how the slightest movement can give an illustration lots of character. Notice how the pencil lines continuously change? So lovely! It’s the snow angel guy that caught my eye at first, before discovering a whole lot more animated loveliness on Thoka’s site.
