In a lovely, whimsical style, artist Joanna Kaminska creates characters in slightly surreal landscapes that make me daydream about magical, far away places. Her beautiful works have a bit of a mysterious touch and they leave me curious to know more about who these illustrated folks are.
Originally from Poland and currently based in Ireland, Joanna Kaminska is an artist and designer who creates her illustrations under the brand JOKAMIN. Joanna is inspired by authenticity, reality, identity, beauty, people and life generally; she is an intuitive painter who focuses on subjects she feels most connected to:
My style is naive, authentic and this, together with my individual view of the world, influences my art. My illustrations and paintings are often daily scenes, conversations overheard or situations seen. Anything could be a starting point for new art work: somebody’s facial expression, a title in the newspaper, a gesture or a particular song.
