I was so happy to stumble upon the work of illustrator and paper artist Georgie Monica. Her beautiful narrative illustrations tell famous and infamous stories in such a rich and wonderful style that tickles my imagination and leaves me curious to see more. Up to the tiniest detail, Georgie creates all the illustrated details by hand and sets them up into magical little dioramas. She then photographs them, which results into atmospheric 2d illlustrations that seem to come to life. So gorgeous!
Currently based in Devon, England, Georgie is mostly inspired by nature, everyday life and stories that go from ancient mythology to contemporary film. In her work she likes to focus on people and animals and aims to create ‘windows into other lives’. Below are some of my favorite projects by Georgie.
