Illustrator Eveline Bervoets has enjoyed making things with her hands for as long as she can remember. Born and raised in The Netherlands, she studied at the Amsterdam University of the Arts and recently, Eveline started to get inspired by the world around her to create her beautiful illustrations.
Considering that she moved to a traditional wooden farm in a North Romanian village six years ago, this means that she creates the most rich and heartwarming pieces with a strong folkloric style. I love the countless details she includes in her work, giving each of her illustrations the fullest attention. And those patterns on their beautiful traditional clothes.. so pretty!
Eveline’s love for the local village life strongly connects to the things she paints about:
Daily life here made me slow down instantly while its pace seems to follow the rhythm of nature and the seasons. The way of life in the village is very pure and self reliant, almost like stepping back in time. To me, the villagers are very inspiring, with all their present knowledge and skills that we often seem to have long forgotten. I’m learning every day and spending all my time in this natural environment feels like finding small treasures around every corner.
