If these flowery creations were real dresses, no doubt I’d wear them. But Kentucky-based artist Ron Isaacs didn’t use any fabrics when he made these. In fact, all of these beauties are sculptures made of wood and paint. That’s right, Wood! I absolutely adore Ron’s work. Even more for his motivations:
Claes Oldenburg once declared the harder he looked at a thing, the more mysterious it became. That notion is my muse. […] That an object made of one material can take on the outward appearance and “reality” of another is of great importance to me– and perhaps part of the reason that historically, making art became allied with making magic.
