About Mateja

Illustrator Mateja Kovač lives and works in Samobor, which is located near Zagreb, Croatia. She had quite an artsy journey before she discovered illustration to be her true love. After graduating from the Art Academy in 2006, she spent her days working in restoration and focused on classical painting and interior design before creating the soft and charming imagery she creates today.

Inspired by the beauty of everyday life, her whimsical illustrations provoke feelings happiness and comfort:

I always aim to make them in a way that they give a relaxed and unburdened atmosphere to their environment. I always try to capture that „ happy thought“ moment that makes every day worth living.

“I love October”

It is almost impossible to chose only one favorite but I would go with that one since it reminds of myself and in truth I love that month. Besides being my birthday month, I love everything about October: the colors, textures, even the mild temperature. I think Mateja has capture the beauty of it.
