About Marijke
Based in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands, Marijke Buurlage has been working as a freelance illustrator since her graduation from the Minerva Academy in Groningenin in 2013. She mostly illustrates for editorial clients, creating all kinds of works for magazines, children’s books, posters and more. The subjects are diverse, but what all of her works have in common is their liveliness and the vibrant colors that give them a very lovely, unique character.
Marijke also runs a superfun collaboration with her mom called Stitchy Friday, in which her mother re-creates Marijke’s illustrations in beautiful embroideries. They share an update on Instagram every Friday!
