Anke Linz and Andreas Oettinger, aka Billy und Hells, are two photographers from Germany whose works have been featured in galleries worldwide. While previously focusing on fashion photography, they started forming their own style by accidentally forgetting to take a black and white negative out of a developer. Later on, the artists discovered a technique which reduces colours, but makes them more intense. These events led to the result that all of Billy und Hells’ portraits are easy to be recognized for their unique and stunning identity; the models are as frozen as a photograph could possibly freeze a fragment, and they catch your eye in no-time. Billy und Hells’ portraits carry a pure, elegant, and a slightly awkward kind of beauty for which they are admired by many fans.
I’ve noticed that I tend to use the word ‘dreamlike’ a lot when I write my posts, so I’ll be trying to avoid this every now and then. But looking at these stunning photographs by Zena Holloway, how can I not use the word dreamlike? And beautiful? And breathtaking? I am in love with each single one of them. They give me a sense of calmness…as if I was in the water myself. Floating… not feeling the burden of gravity… like wandering in a dream (oops, I used it again).
