I tried linocutting at an illustration course once and remember finding it a pretty difficult process. It takes some figuring out how to work with several layers of images rather than one. And carving out forms from the lino block has to be done with a lot of patience and precision. Two things I tend to lack at times.
However, linocutting is also a lot of fun and the results can be rewarding. These beautiful block prints by printmaker & textile designer Andrea Lauren may convince me to give it another try. With linocutting, Andrea likes to stay connected to traditional handmade art techniques. She has an amazing, large collection of lino prints and illustrations in all kinds of colors that appear on paper, textiles and other products.
You can find many more of Andrea’s block prints on Instagram.
I think every one of these linocuts are beautiful! I have loved doing liincuts since 9th grade ad I am 53 now….your work is really clean and crisp…keep sharing!
Really? That’s great! I’m loving these too. They inspire me to give it a try too one of these days.
hello i love you
Love your work. I’m brand new to linocut printing. What’s your registration trick in your multi color prints? The technique is great! It’s a free way of printing. Every print is potentially very unique. Compositional/pattern variations are endless.
