Alfredo Palmero

Oh how I love these elegant portraits by Spanish painter Alfredo Palmero.. beautiful women popping out of endless dresses.. playful and abstract structures, yet realistic and filled with emotion. This is where classic meets contemporary art. And in Palmero’s case, this can be taken quite literally as he is the third in his generation of artists and was taught by his own grandfather. The women in these paintings are referred to as Meninas and are partly inspired by Diego Velasquez, a Spanish painter from the 17th century. Besides these Meninas, Alfredo Palmero produced other succesful series, such as the Harlequins.
